One of Indiana’s great coaches announced his retirement today. Head Football Coach Rick Streiff met with his team this afternoon and informed them of his plans. His work continues at Cathedral, just not on the football field. Rick will be spending more time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family.
Coach Streiff has led the Fighting Irish football program for a total of 23 years. His record during that time, 221-77. His historical tenure includes winning 10 state championships, 11 semistates, 14 regionals, and 17 sectional titles. The Irish won 5 consecutive state titles and 32 straight tournament games during one incredible stretch.
Rick Streiff also was the head coach at Brebeuf for 1 year, and spent 4 years leading the program at North Central.
Rick is a 1984 graduate of Butler University where he was a 4 time letter winner. He is a 1980 graduate of Monrovia High School and is a member of their Hall of Fame.
Rick will continue working at Cathedral. He leaves behind a tremendous coaching legacy. Cathedral is proud to have had him as coach. We are grateful he will continue his positive mentoring in our hallways. He is a great example of a teacher understanding and promoting the mission and values of Cathedral High School.
Thank you Rick Streiff!
